Who is LeadFly? AI phone answering and follow-up for UK trades
LeadFly, based in Watford, is one of the few firms on our radar that does not sell ads or websites at all. It sells AI: a voice agent that answers your phone when you cannot, chatbots for your site and automations that chase quotes and ask for reviews. This profile explains what that means and what to check before buying it.
A different kind of trades supplier
Almost every agency we cover is trying to make your phone ring more. LeadFly's pitch is about what happens when it does ring and you are up a ladder with a drill in your hand. They say they work exclusively with UK trade businesses, and the language on their site uses Gas Safe and Part P terms, so they have at least done their homework on who they are talking to.
The problem they are solving is real. We wrote a whole piece on the missed-call problem nobody talks about, and the short version is that an unanswered call from a new customer usually goes straight to the next name on Google.
What they sell
The core three are the voice agent, the chatbot and the automations. The video production and avatar services sit a bit oddly alongside them and feel like a separate business line. The whole thing is pitched as fully managed, meaning they set it up and run it rather than handing you software and a login.
Their framing is that an AI receptionist is cheaper than hiring a person to answer the phone. On the raw numbers that is true. Whether a customer who has just had a pipe burst wants to talk to an AI is a question only your own customers can answer, so test it on yourself first. The cheaper alternatives are laid out in our guide to answering the phone when you're on the tools.
- AI voice agents offering 24/7 phone answering
- AI chatbots for your website
- AI workflow automation: quote chasing, appointment reminders, review and referral requests
- Short-form video production
- AI avatars
- AI training for your staff
- CRM and calendar integration
Pricing
Credit where due: they publish fixed monthly fees per product, which a lot of agencies will not do. The setup charges are not all spelled out, so ask for the full first-invoice figure, not just the monthly.
| Product | Published monthly fee | Setup |
|---|---|---|
| Website chatbot | £99 | Some one-off setup charges apply |
| AI receptionist / voice agent | £299 | Plus setup |
| Short-form videos | £299 | Some one-off setup charges apply |
The proof gap
This is the weakest part. There are no published case studies, just a single savings claim that is not attributed to a named client. For a firm asking £299 a month plus setup, that is thin.
It does not mean the product is poor. New categories often have little proof early on. But it does mean you should ask for a live demo, ask to ring a number the agent is answering right now, and ask for a reference you can phone. If they cannot provide any of the three, wait.
Who it fits
A busy trade who is genuinely losing calls, has a steady stream of enquiries already, and would rather pay £299 a month than hire a part-time office person. Also someone whose quotes go cold because nobody chases them, which the automation side addresses.
A poor fit for a start-up trade with five enquiries a week. At that volume you can answer the phone yourself or use a simple missed-call text-back, and the money is better spent on getting found in the first place. Our sole trader marketing agency guide covers the firms that do that end of the job, and some of them bundle missed-call text-back into a much cheaper fee.
Assessing them properly
- Ring a live demo number and act like an awkward customer. See what the agent does when you go off script
- Ask what happens to the call recording and the customer's details, and who owns that data
- Ask how the agent hands a genuine emergency to a human
- Get the full setup cost in writing
- Ask what the cancellation terms are month to month
